IBM Infrastructure is a catalyst that makes the world work better because our clients demand it. Heterogeneous environments, the explosion of data, digital automation, and cybersecurity threats require hybrid cloud infrastructure that only IBM can provide.
Your ability to be creative, a forward-thinker and to focus on innovation that matters, is all support by our growth minded culture as we continue to drive career development across our teams. Collaboration is key to IBM Infrastructure success, as we bring together different business units and teams that balance their priorities in a way that best serves our client’s needs.
IBM’s product and technology landscape includes Research, Software, and Infrastructure. Entering this domain positions you at the heart of IBM, where growth and innovation thrive.
IBM Fusion HCI is a x86 based hybrid cloud storage platform for Red Hat OpenShift, which simplifies the orchestration of containers using Kubernetes. This solution is integrated into IBM’s AI offering watsonx and enables efficient deployment of AI workload, as well as flexible provisioning and administration of containerized storage for any kind of OpenShift workload.
Especially in the context of IBM Z and LinuxONE, IBM Fusion HCI makes it possible to introduce AI capabilities to existing mainframe applications and scale the combined workload at ease. At the same time, IBM Fusion HCI delivers a price effective storage option, which can be used by IBM Z systems.
The goal for this master@IBM role is to identify and optimize attractive scenarios for combining IBM LinuxONE and IBM Fusion HCI. Since IBM Fusion HCI includes GPUs, the chosen scenarios should also include KI use cases.
In a second step, the integration between the two hardware platforms, should be simplified, by creating an OpenShift operator, which deploys single OpenShift multi-architecture cluster, spanning compute nodes on both IBM Fusion HCI as well as on IBM LinuxONE. New OpenShift virtualization capabilities will play a key role in this solution.
While working on these innovative tasks, you will be part of the IBM Z Software Defined Storage Team and will shape the future development strategy for the usage of IBM Fusion HCI within the IBM Z and LinuxONE ecosystem.
