Software Developer, IBM Corporation, San Jose, CA (Up to 40% telecommuting permitted):

 

  • Design new features and extend OpenTelemetry support with a dynamic architecture. 
  • Maintain OpenTelemetry-related code across Instana’s agent, backend, and frontend. 
  • Debug and resolve customer-reported issues involving OpenTelemetry. 
  • Improve the observability platform, Instana, as a member of the Instana OpenTelemetry team. 
  • Process millions of spans, traces, metrics, and events per second to deliver actionable insights to customers. 
  • Focus on generating, collecting, processing, exporting, visualizing, and analyzing telemetry data using OpenTelemetry.
  • Collaborate on cross-team OpenTelemetry initiatives. 
  • Improve documentation for seamless customer adoption. 
  • Contribute to the OpenTelemetry open-source community. 
  • Enhance developer tools and pipelines. 
  • Demonstrate strong coding discipline and problem-solving skills. 
  • Utilize: Java, Golang, JavaScript Language, SaaS and Cloud Technologies, CI/CD Implementation, GPU Performance Analysis, OpenTelemetry technologies, Large Language Model (LLM) Integration and Analysis, Application development for Al and LLMs.

 

Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or related and two (2) years of experience as a Software Developer or related. Two (2) years of experience must include utilizing Java, Golang, JavaScript Language, SaaS and Cloud Technologies, CI/CD Implementation, GPU Performance Analysis, OpenTelemetry technologies, Large Language Model (LLM) Integration and Analysis, Application development for Al and LLMs. $170,000 to $220,000 per year.
