IBM Blue Studio is responsible for the sophistication and strategic evolution and expression of the IBM brand and sub-brands across every experience and encounter, internally and externally. We represent and support all IBM businesses horizontally and vertically. Our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications and content development, symbology and systems, digital and physical experiences, tools, and training. Our goal is to maintain modernity, tangibility and understanding of the IBM brand in the world.
The environments team within IBM Blue Studio is responsible for the design of brand expression within IBM facilities globally. We work closely with IBM Global Real Estate and a variety of creative partners on interior architecture, environmental/experiential graphics, and signage and wayfinding systems projects. As a designer, you will create environmental graphics on global projects using a systematic application of our design language across our facilities portfolio, including: workplaces, hospitality spaces, exhibit/event spaces, and cobranded environments. You will also develop strong collaborative relationships with IBM Global Real Estate and our agency partners worldwide to art direct design solutions that meet IBM’s Workplace Design guidance. You should have experience in developing environmental graphic design (creative and production), and an understanding of interior design and construction processes. Our team is a collaborative and dynamic group of design professionals, and we will expect you to be a collaborative leader with the ability to work well with design direction, and be able to partner on and to lead projects. You should be able to clearly articulate complex conceptual ideas to both partners and executive leadership, as well as communicate the more detailed design directions to team members.
Responsibilities:
· Lead Workplace Brand projects from concept to production with our IBM partners
· Produce expertly designed materials for communication of concepts and then take them to production
· Contribute to IBM Workplace Design guidance to expand the scope and quality of our work
· Successfully navigate organizational complexities
· Distinguish good design from bad, careless from well-conceived and crafted
· Be a strong advocate and expert in the meaning, strategy, and expression of the IBM brand
· Collaborate, influence, and manage teams through his/her/their expertise and knowledge of design
· Serve as a thought leader both inside and outside of IBM
· Consistently exceed experiences previously created
· Build strong collaborative relationships with our IBM Global Real Estate and creative partners
· 5-10 years of experience in environmental graphic design field
· Communicating and interfacing with stakeholders about design concepts, principles, criteria and guidelines
· Collaborating with other design leaders and practitioners to push the limits and look beyond the day–to–day, while working within constraints
· Leading teams and work–from conception to production–ensuring innovative work, best practices and standards of quality
· Experience working in spatial design and planning, ability to think three dimensionally
· A robust background with experience in client facing, program lead roles
· Have a working knowledge of fabrication, technologies, materials, building techniques.
· Skills in industry standard 3D modeling, rendering programs to faithfully illustrate concepts (ex: Revit, Rhino, Fusion 360, v-Ray, Keyshot, SketchUp or similar) is considered a plus.
