IBMi Power HA High Availability (HA) Consultant 

An IBM PowerHA High Availability (HA) Consultant is a specialized IT professional focused on architecting, deploying, and maintaining high-availability solutions for IBM Power Systems running on IBM i. These consultants utilize technologies such as IBM PowerHA SystemMirror to build resilient infrastructures that ensure uninterrupted access to mission-critical applications and data. By leveraging clustering, failover automation, and recovery processes, they help client organizations achieve their business continuity and disaster recovery objectives.

Core Responsibilities

1. Assessment & Planning

  • Analyze business requirements and design tailored HA strategies.
  • Recommend optimal PowerHA configurations, including data mirroring, site-to-site replication, and Power HA Tools for IBMi

2. Implementation & Configuration

  • Build and configure HA clusters.
  • Set up shared storage, Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (IASPs), and resource groups to support high availability.

3. Deployment & Migration

  • Lead migrations of applications and data to IASPs.
  • Deploy HA solutions across on-premises systems and cloud environments.
Key Technologies & Concepts

  • IBM PowerHA SystemMirror
    Core clustering technology for ensuring data, application, and system resilience.

  • Clustering Infrastructure
    Enables automatic failure detection and resource failover across systems.

  • Independent Auxiliary Storage Pools (IASPs)
    Facilitates flexible data and application mobility between systems for HA.

  • IBMi OS knowledge
  • JAVA AND C++ Programming skills are plus

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year. 

This position is eligible for participation in an IBM Sales Incentive plan. Actual incentive opportunity will be based on performance and the eligible Target Incentive, as addressed in the applicable plan, all of which is subject to change. The compensation range listed for this position is the IBM Reference Salary that is used when you are not actively participating in a sales plan. Your actual base pay plus incentive opportunity will be determined by the Incentive Plan assigned to you.
