As a database expert, you will join our follow-the-sun rotation where you will be the primary responder for automated system alerts.  You will follow runbooks to resolve such issues and use your troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose or troubleshoot platform or Data Service issues.

Sua Função e suas Responsabilidades

 

The IBM Cloud Databases (ICD) team is responsible for developing and operating the Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings that provide Database as a Services (DBaaS) in IBM Cloud.  ICD is seeking an expert in MySQL. The developer will develop configuration, scripts, and other tooling to bootstrap and allow MySQL to run in our highly available Kubernetes & Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based Cloud Environment. The developer will participate in the design of the service, writing tools and automation, building containers, developing tests, determining monitoring best practices and handling complex customer escalations.  The developer must have a deep understanding of the MySQL server software, HA configurations, and general operations in a production environment.

  • 2+ years with the build, installation, and runtime of MySQL
  • 2+ years with operating MySQL in production environment
  • Experience in Software Development (preferrably Python, Golang or Bash)
  • Operating a database service in a large scale environment
  • Knowledge of SQL best practices, including schema and index designs

 

Experiência Profissional e Técnica Preferencial
  • Experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving database hosting issues (e.g, replication, clustering) in production
  • Experience in application and performance design using databases and troubleshooting of application-side database issues
  • Experience with Kubernetes in production- and CI/CD environments.
