Associate Manager, Tax Accounting
This position is based out of IBM’s North Castle location in Armonk, NY, with 3 days onsite per week required.
As part of the IBM Tax Accounting team, you will have a unique and integral role as a 'trusted business advisor' by being involved in key business decisions, supporting IBM’s initiatives and contributing to business results. We are seeking an Associate Manager, Tax Accounting, to join our team. As a key member of our tax accounting function, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our tax provision calculations, cash tax forecasts, and external filings. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including US and non-US tax teams, external service providers, and other internal teams to drive tax accounting excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Global Tax Teams: Work closely with non-US tax and non-US tax accounting teams to obtain and review quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations and cash tax forecasts.
- Coordinate with US Tax Compliance Team and External Providers: Liaise with IBM’s US tax team and external service providers to obtain quarterly and annual US income tax provision calculations and cash tax forecasts.
- Tax Expense and Balance Sheet Analysis: Assist in analyzing tax expense and tax balance sheet requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- External Filings and Disclosures: Support the preparation and review of tax footnotes for external quarterly and annual filings, including compliance with FASB ASU 2023-09 requirements.
- Technology Enhancement: Contribute to the development and implementation of technology solutions to enhance the tax accounting process.
- Accounting for Business Transactions: Assist in analyzing tax accounting implications of acquisitions, dispositions, and integrations.
- Technical Research: Support tax accounting technical research requirements, staying up-to-date on relevant tax accounting pronouncements and updates.
- 4+ years of relevant tax accounting experience at a Big 4 accounting firm and/or a multinational corporation.
- General understanding of US GAAP and ASC740 requirements.
- Experience with OTP software.
- Familiarity with U.S. Tax reform legislation (TCJA) and recent legislative updates.
- Team player with excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving skills and detail-oriented, able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- 4+ years of relevant tax accounting experience at a Big 4 accounting firm and/or a multinational corporation.
