Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator with a minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in managing IBM storage hardware and software. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of DFSMShsm, data lifecycle management, catalog management, and problem resolution. This role requires a strong ability to drive storage projects and optimize storage infrastructure for performance, availability, and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities
· Oversee the day-to-day operations, monitoring, and maintenance of IBM mainframe storage systems, including DASD, tape, and virtual storage.
· Develop and implement comprehensive storage strategies aligned with business objectives.
· Perform in-depth capacity planning and forecasting, optimizing storage utilization and minimizing costs.
· Design and implement data lifecycle management policies, including data retention, migration, and archival strategies.
· Manage and optimize ICF catalogs, ensuring data accessibility and integrity.
· Proactively identify and resolve storage-related performance issues, working closely with application teams to optimize performance.
· Drive storage projects, including migrations, upgrades, and implementations of new storage technologies.
· Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans for storage infrastructure.
· Provide expert-level technical guidance and support to the IT team.
· Analyze storage system performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
· Collaborate with security teams to maintain data confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 12 years of experience in mainframe storage administration.
· In-depth knowledge of IBM storage hardware (DS8000, DS6000, etc.) and software (DFSMS, HSM, RMM, DFP, DSS, etc.).
· Expert-level proficiency in DFSMShsm, data lifecycle management, and catalog management.
· Strong understanding of mainframe operating systems (z/OS).
· Proven ability to drive storage projects and implement process improvements.
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Strong analytical and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
· Certifications in IBM storage technologies.
· Experience with storage automation and scripting (e.g., REXX, JCL).
· Knowledge of cloud-based storage solutions.
