The Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) position, based in Radford, VA, offers an opportunity to grow and enhance technical skills in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment. The role involves managing, maintaining, and optimizing Oracle databases while staying current with vendor technologies and best practices to support a highly available enterprise infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
• Administering and supporting Oracle databases, with additional involvement in MySQL and EDB PostgreSQL environments.
• Ensuring optimal database performance, availability, and security in a mission-critical setup.
• Participating in a 24x7 on-call support rotation to address operational needs promptly.
This position requires a DoD Secret Security clearance or higher (US Citizenship required).
This is currently a hybrid position in Radford, VA with 2 days/week onsite.
• Security Clearance and Certifications: Must hold a fully adjudicated DoD Secret clearance. Required certifications include DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security+, ISC2 SSCP) and Oracle Database Certification.
• Database Administration Experience: Over 5 years of experience with Oracle Enterprise Database on Linux virtual servers, including design, installation, configuration, administration, patching, upgrades, tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting. Skills in MySQL and EDB PostgreSQL are also desirable.
• Oracle Expertise: Proficiency in Oracle 19c features such as Multitenant, RAC, ASM, DataGuard, Grid Infrastructure, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Data Pump, auditing, and cluster file systems (ACFS).
• Technical Skills: Strong experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) using Veritas Netbackup, database performance tuning for transactional/analytical workloads, and troubleshooting using database and OS tools.
• Scripting and Availability: Advanced bash shell scripting (Oracle Enterprise Linux) and/or PL/SQL skills. Participation in 24x7 on-call support rotation.
- Databases: Oracle 19c or higher, MySQL 8 or higher, PostgreSQL 13.7 or higher and Oracle BI (OBIEE) 12.
- Experience with any of the following is beneficial - Oracle Application Express, Apache Tomcat, Shell scripting experience in MySQL, and PL/pgSQL.
- Working knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG).
