The intern will be assigned to a sub-team within our Remote Technical Support team of Power Hardware support team that supports the service structure and serviceability of our Power Server hardware product set. This position will be to help design and execute productivity aids required for the infrastructure. A basic engineering understanding of computer hardware architecture is required to perform this role. Computer Science skills are highly desired and preferred however an electronics engineering background would also be beneficial. The intern will have the opportunity to experience firsthand what a Power Server customer expects from IBM as well as the technical complexity of this machine.
- Passion to pursue career path in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Fundamental education in software design and/or test
- Computer Architecture
- Knowledge of any programming languages: C, C++, Java, Assembly
- Good debugging skills
- Scripting knowledge: Python, JavaScript, Perl, Bash, etc
- Strong Communication Skills
- Knowledge of RISC architecture
- Knowledge of Computer Networking
- Tools (Git/GitHub, IntelliJ, etc.)
