The Platform Engineer is responsible for driving IBM sales execution by ensuring pilot platforms are engineered to deliver customer technical and business outcomes and improve deployment of Client Engineering pilots. They work closely with other Client Engineering roles to deploy the foundation for comprehensive pilot solutions. Platform Engineers are experts at deploying solutions across Hybrid Cloud.
- Provide deep technical expertise in their area of focus
- Align with industry standards with deep understanding across deployment automation techniques and technology
- Possess a deep understanding of the Hybrid Cloud platforms (especially OpenShift platform, the hypervisors\cloud providers on which it runs, and managed offerings: ROKS, ROSA & ARO)
- Demonstrate deep knowledge for deployment of watsonx and other IBM strategic software across the Hybrid Cloud using DevOps / MLOps practices
- Deploy containerized applications especially into Kubernetes and troubleshoot deployments, advising clients on best practices
- Understand/Advise on the widely adopted Public Cloud Offerings especially relating to (compute, networking, storage, security, etc.)
Provide architectural assistance for platform related topics across the Hybrid Cloud On-Prem and in the Public Cloud
Advise on best practices for DevOps / GitOps / MLOps and related platform automation tools
Understanding in tools for platform deployment and configuration management automation (Terraform, Ansible, ARM, etc.)
Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
