Introduction

IBM Cloud Code Engine is IBM's Public Cloud serverless container platform service. It is developed with the goal of helping customers to create modern, source-centric, containerized, and serverless applications, jobs and functions that run on Kubernetes clusters without any worries about the infrastructure hassle. The platform is designed to address the needs of developers who just want their code to run. Code Engine abstracts the operational burden of building, deploying, and managing workloads on Kubernetes so that developers can focus on what matters most to them: the source code. 

 

We're evolving quickly, and you'll have the opportunity to influence that evolution. As a cloud native developer on IBM Cloud, you'll be at the heart of implementing the next wave of IBM Cloud Serverless capabilities.

Rôle et responsabilités

In the role as Cloud Back-End software engineer, you will

·      Work on every facet of the IBM Code Engine Cloud service to ensure a reliable quality product in production: from the earliest stage of product architecture, design and development to deployment, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.

·      Focus on the development and architecture of the Code Engine Public API within the overall Code Engine development and engineering team.

·      Implement production ready features and experiences for IBM Cloud Platform focusing on serverless technologies.

·      Collaborate closely with architects, Front-end developers and UX designers to develop the API required to ensure the best possible user experience for our customers.

·      Work in an Agile environment, developing software components in a continuous delivery fashion.

·      Embrace and promote agile development best practices like pair programming.

·      Operate the Cloud service you develop in collaboration with internal and external clients (DevOps).

·      Participate in periodic on-call rotation in a 7X24 environment.

 

You will find yourself in a team that is distributed worldwide. Strong communication and teaming skills are mandatory. Working with customers on their requirements, feedback or issues is important for our product. Experience or a desire to work with customers is therefore a plus and encouraged.

Expertise professionnelle et technique requise

·      Software Development architecture & design & implementation (front-end and/or back-end)

·      3+ year experience working in Agile environment using Scrum or Kanban methodologies

·      3+ year of hands-on development experience building applications with one or more of the following: Golang, Java, Node.js, Express.js, NoSQL DB, SQL, Redis, distributed caches, etc.          

·      3+ years of experience building and operating highly secured, distributed cloud services with one or more of the following: IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, DevSecOps, SRE, CI/CD,  Docker, container orchestration, performance testing, DevOps etc.

·      3+ years of experience in one or more web technologies: HTTP, REST, JSON, HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript etc.

·      Understanding of micro-service architecture and modern cloud programming practices. Strong ability to design a clean, developer-friendly API. (CI/CD  Automation tooling, such as Concourse, Jenkins, Travis, Ansible etc.)

·      Understanding of secure coding principles (e.g. OWASP)

·      Passionate about constant, continuous learning and applying new technologies as well as mentoring others.

·      Keen troubleshooting skills and strong verbal/written communication skills (English)

Expertise professionnelle et technique souhaitée

·      Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (Linux Containers, Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift)

·      Understanding of Serverless computing (e.g. IBM Code Engine)

·      Intensive collaboration across teams and locations

·      Behavior driven development (BDD)

·      Operating components on Cloud and Linux

·      Automation of operations procedures (e.g. build, test, deploy)

·      Experience with Terraform is a bonus

·      Experience with OpenAPI standards is a bonus
