We are seeking a highly skilled and Associate Data Engineer with a strong foundation in data fundamentals, a passion for solving problems, and a desire to grow into a well-rounded data professional. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to learn, and motivated to take initiative and ownership.
You’ll work across the data lifecycle — from ingestion and transformation to supporting analytics and modelling. You'll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while making meaningful contributions from day one. You ‘ll enjoy working on diverse tasks, in diverse industries and wearing multiple hats.
This role is ideal for a generalist with a blend of data engineering and data science skills, who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
· Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and scientists to build and maintain data pipelines.
· Clean, structure, and transform raw data into usable formats for analysis and modelling.
· Contribute to the development and documentation of data models, schemas, and best practices.
· Work on cross-functional projects that require both engineering and analytical skills.
· Proactively identify opportunities to improve data quality, automation, or performance.
· Support data scientists with data exploration, feature engineering, and model deployment when needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field. A master’s degree would be advantageous.
· Self-starter who is curious, enthusiastic, and not afraid to ask questions.
· Demonstrated ability to take ownership and follow through.
· Solid programming skills in Python (or similar language).
· Strong experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
· Foundational understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data modeling.
· Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and working in a collaborative development environment.
· Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
· Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
