Our Marketing, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility (MCC) team tells this story and is responsible for positioning IBM in the market. We define and optimize IBM’s brand, capture the market’s attention, and articulate our point of view for clients, partners, the media, and even other IBMers.
This role supports our internal creative team, Blue Studio, which is responsible for the strategic evolution and expression of the IBM brand across every experience and encounter, internally and externally. Our work crosses nearly every category of output: research and strategy, communications and content development, symbology and systems, digital and physical experiences, and tools and training. Our goal is to maintain modernity, sophistication, and tangibility, and to promote understanding of the IBM brand in the world.
The Blue Studio design practice is looking for a highly motivated Designer who is passionate about ideas, brand experience and design, and looking to work with like-minded people. The professional must have a strong attention towards strategic, simple, smart design, and a keen eye for a modernist approach to typography and information design. The right candidate should have conceptual skills with identity systems, and experience working across media. Work will include a range of assets and projects, including online, digital, data visualization, print, social, video, and events.
Your primary responsibilities will be to help:
- Execute projects from Conception, design, through execution
- Produce deliverables from print to online and multimedia
- Bring abstract concepts to life though typography, illustration, iconography and photography
- Contribute to style guides, UI toolkits, and other design documents, as needed
- Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and detailed design rationale both verbally and visually
- Collaborate with the team to support development of integrated brand-to-demand messaging and content plans that deliver the right content, at the right time, to the right audiences and drive the right outcomes
- Prepare, recommend and test solutions to help engage IBM audiences through specific messaging, brand & content strategy deliverables
- Apply deep curiosity to build an understanding of the market, target audiences and IBM’s offerings to help create the most compelling messaging and content

Start date for this internship is early June 2025. This is a Hybrid role, attendance in the office will be required only 3 times per week
- Currently enrolled in a University degree program
- Basic understanding of design experience across media
- Passionate about problem solving and idea generation
- Able to visualize and turn concepts into end products
- Attention-to-detail, strong organizational skills, and strong time management
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders (technical teams, partners and other designers)
- Being passionate, confident, empathetic, positive and approachable
- Able to turn feedback into iteration: accept and act upon creative/technical direction
- Portfolio of work demonstrating success in primary responsibilities for the role is required
- Basic experience with Figma
- Able to distinguish good design from bad, careless from well-conceived and crafted
- Able to take direction well and be nimble to extend designs across platforms
