IBM’s Compliance & Investigation team’s mission is to empower thoughtful risk taking across One IBM to protect IBM and IBMers while allowing IBM to pursue its strategic objectives.
As India & South Asia Compliance Officer (ISA CO) you will be part of the Asia Pacific (APAC) & Japan Compliance and Investigations team.
You will be responsible for maintaining IBM’s reputation of integrity and ethical conduct and coordinating programmatic efforts across key compliance areas including anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), trade compliance, AI, cybersecurity, privacy, competition law, conflicts of interest and anti-money laundering.
You will be expected to drive continuous improvement and adjust the program to IBM’s evolving business strategy.
Responsibilities include:
· Identifying and evaluating key compliance risks in the ISA region, aligning them with IBM's business strategy including developing, implementing and monitoring mitigation plans to manage key identified risks.
· Staying updated on relevant laws, regulations, and policies in the ISA region to ensure compliance in areas like Anti-Bribery & Coruption, privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and competition law.
· Actively engage with senior ISA business leaders, embedding within the business as a strategic partner.
· Collaborating with the other market strategic advisors within APAC, global Compliance & Investigation team, business units, and key stakeholders to support the pursuit of business strategy through thoughtful risk management.
· Educating employees and advise stakeholders on compliance matters, including new regulations and internal policies and their applicable systems as necessary.
· Conducting regular audits and risk assessments to identify potential weaknesses, risks, and areas of non-compliance within IBM's ISA operations including working with other auditing, monitoring and risk functions across IBM.
· Supporting investigations from allegation to resolution, including root cause analysis.
· Driving the evolution and improvement of IBM's compliance programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with IBM's business strategy.
· Familiarity with regulatory regimes crucial to IBM's operations in the ISA region, including ABC, privacy, cybersecurity, AI, and competition law.
· Prior experience in the IT and technology sector in a legal or compliance role, preferably with a multinational corporation.
· Proven ability to establish relationships with senior business leadership while maintaining independence.
· Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously on matters, balancing independence with risk evaluation to facilitate calculated business risks without compromising key compliance obligations.
· Experience in implementing and using technology to enhance compliance program efficiency and integration within business processes.
· Excellent oral and written English communication skills for conveying compliance requirements and complex information to various stakeholders.
· Strong commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.
· A qualified lawyer or other relevant professional background.
