The Partner Technical Specialist is a technical sales role that utilizes deep technical expertise and plays a key contributor role in the IBM Partner Ecosystem, a key growth engine for IBM. As a Partner Technical Specialist, you will create and maintain trusted advisor relationships with IBM business partners to drive successful outcomes. You will participate in strategic technical discussions with partners and help shape their technical agenda using IBM Technologies. You will lead technical efforts and collaborate internally across IBM's technical experts to identify components and design winning solutions to further develop the IBM Partner Ecosystem.
Candidates need deep technical skills and are assigned to Partners based on growth potential.
· Responsible for influencing the Partner's technical strategy toward IBM's Technology.
· Works to incorporate and embed IBM technology into Partner's reference architectures, practices, and solutions.
· Coordinates IBM technical expertise to identify, design, and implement valued client and partner-centric solutions.
· Goal of growing the capability and capacity of the overall ecosystem.
· Increase Partner's technical capabilities for demonstrating and deploying IBM Technology at scale with Partner sales and technical sellers.
PTSs are enabling Partners to build capability and capacity such that Partners are leading with IBM Technology as they propose, progress and close opportunities. PTSs have well defined goals which allow us to prioritize the needs of our Partners while delivering growth for IBM Technology Responsibilities.
- Demonstrates knowledge in IBM Technology and Automation Platform solutions with depth of skills.
- Skilled in Hybrid Cloud technologies in order to integrate an IBM Technology POV with Partners overall technical architectures.
- Proficient in Design Thinking, Architecture, and Development principals to convince Partners to adopt IBM Technology into solutions, practices, and offerings.
- Possess a deep understanding of Sell Ecosystem motions and business models, e.g., capabilities in consultative / complex technical sales, architecture design, technology solution development.
- Skilled in all the IBM sales tools (TechZone, PartnerPlus, etc.) and teams (CE, GSI/Build Lab, F2F sellers, offering mgmt., etc.) to enable Partners with tools, training, and infrastructure to showcase and prove the value of IBM Technology
- Knowledge of containerization solutions – Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker.
- Understanding the specifics of building enterprise-class solutions based on commercial and open-source components, as well as knowledge of application architectures.
- Familiarity with processes and tools related to application development and maintenance (DevOps), preferably knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, Tekton.
- Knowledge of application servers (e.g., WebSphere) and/or integration platforms (“data bus” – e.g., IBM ACE) and/or API management systems (e.g., DataPower) and/or queuing solutions (e.g., IBM MQ) and/or event streaming and processing platforms (Apache Kafka or IBM Event Automation).
- Knowledge of webMehods iPaaS platform.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows systems and networking concepts.
- Basic understanding APM/ARM solutions.
- Programming skills in Java, JavaScript, ability to write shell scripts
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience in roles such as Pre-sales Engineer, Solution Architect, or Technical Consultant.
