Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an engineering discipline that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. The VPC Compute SRE team is dedicated to monitor, support and operationally improve the reliability of the IBM Cloud infrastructure. We are building IBM's next generation cloud platform to deliver performance and predictability for our customers' most demanding workloads, at global scale with efficiency, resiliency and security. It is an exciting time, and as a team we are driven by this incredible opportunity to thrill our clients.

 

As an ideal candidate, you are a back-end enterprise level software developer, experienced with highly tunable and scalable cloud deployments. You will interface with Operations to support the maintainability and debuggability of the cloud, Release engineering to support the deployment and upgradability of the cloud, and internal development teams to support their requirements in delivering new features and fixes into the cloud with no downtime.

Required technical and professional expertise

 

·   Should have 3-5 years on Full stack development and Microservices Architecture

·   Strong debug skills, effective verbal and written communication skills.

·   Proven experience implementing distributed applications in a container environment (Docker/Kubernetes), virtualization, control plane development, along with considerable experience configuring and administrating Linux (or other Unix-like) systems

 

·   Experience in any Databases like Postgres or any No SQL DB

·   Experience with Linux operating systems

·   Experience with Agile team project delivery practices

·   Proven proficiency in grasping requirements and building illustrative features with minimal specifications



Preferred technical and professional experience

 

·   Experience with hypervisors/compute virtualization (e.g. KVM/libvirt/QEMU)

·   Software engineering experience designing Enterprise Cloud Applications with Go Lang, NodeJS, Angular JS, Javascript, Python etc., 

·   Experience programming using GoLang, Python, NodeJS, Angular JS, Javascript, Development technologies such as JSON and REST API development experience (APIs like REST / RESTful APIs).
