Your role and responsibilities

The Learning Consultant is the representative of IBM Skills and Learning to our client Business Units (BUs) and Geographies (Geos). The Learning Consultant builds and manages relationships with stakeholders, drives powerful conversations to understand current and future initiatives and demand, and delivers training to meet these requirements. Combined with an expert knowledge of our learning portfolio, the Learning Consultant is responsible for shaping and delivering powerful learning engagements that build skills and enable IBMers to deliver world-class client experiences that win in the marketplace.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Deep experience as a learning facilitator in virtual and/or face to face environments; delivering innovative, engaging learning development events
  • Experience working in and managing an adult learning environment; including class pre-work and setup, student communications, learning delivery and post-workshop follow-up.
  • Strong collaborator with proven ability in building rapport and strong partner relationships with other teams needed to deliver effective training; including clients, admin, support and operations.
  • Able to work flexibly and independently in remote (virtual), office-based and face to face training environments as needed.
  • Empathic, curious, able to understand needs and match learning delivery to best fit those needs.
  • Proven ability to consult with business leaders to understand skill and capability gaps, translate these gaps into program objectives, and engage effectively with design and operations teams to construct effective learning programs which to measurably meet or exceed the stated business needs.
  • Consulting Skills: Ability to apply analytical and innovative thinking to develop and deliver high-quality solutions. Business acumen and high Emotional Quotient to build relationships and work effectively at different levels to influence and manage stakeholder relations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Project Management: Some experience in managing projects and programs, including measurements and reporting
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Sales or Sales Support background
  • Experience in skills- or learning program design
  • Experience in client consultancy; understanding, translating and acting on stated business requirements and KPIs.
  • Fluent English
  • Spanish fluency (written and spoken) is preferred
