You will work with a talented team of PCB IO card logic designers responsible for the creation of various IO cards (PCIe switch, Ficon, Crypto, Coupling, AI) to support future IBM Z mainframe development.
You will also be required to do early bring up of cards both in a bench setup, in early test systems. You will be debugging both hardware and system level issues.
This will include items like validating correct voltages are applied to electronic components, validating PCIe link speeds, I2C communication channels, working to ensure cards meet manufacturing specifications, supporting failure analysis efforts, essentially everything needed to design, build and support IO cards in Z mainframes.
- Work with Card Physical Design and Signal Integrity Engineers to deliver complete custom PCB card designs.
- Bring up early hardware on a bench and in early systems, validating voltages, resets, PCIe link speeds, I2C interfaces
- Design, execute, and manage hardware testing
- Design and create automation for system testing (including scripting, microcontroller integration)
- Work closely with Firmware developers to validate system funcationality of IO cards in new Z mainframes and support failure analysis of products used by our clients
- Implement feedback from all bring up efforts for either modifications to existing card layouts or changes to firmware to support card functionality
- Work in the Cadence Allegro Design to enter in the logic schematic for custom card designs.
- Create EC list of changes from one release to the next.
- Lead/Participate in Logic Design reviews to support Gerber release schedules.
- Work with EMI EMC compliance, Mechanical Packaging, Procurement, and Thermal.
- Work with Production Test, Manufacturing and Field Service support.
- PCB Card logic design
- PCB Card system bring up
- PCIe link protocol triage of link issue
- PCB Card Failure Analysis
- Electronic Component Qualification
- Programming automation of Card design and system bring up
- Cadence CAD tool
- Lab skills including use of oscilloscopes, solder irons, etc for card rework
