Your role and responsibilities

The IBM Storage Cepht team is looking for an Manager to join our team. In this role, you will elaborate plans that allow us to package, maintain consistency, and deliver our storage technology: Ceph. You’ll build, organize, and manage a globally distributed testing engineering team. You’ll also participate in creating team structure, team performance reviews, and coaching and mentoring team members. As a Manager, you will suggest improvements to IBM internal processes and develop new and innovative solutions to technical issues on a daily basis.

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Establish and manage the team's yearly hiring plan and financial plan

  • Prioritize and manage the work by setting a roadmap and goals

  • Manage and grow a motivated, engaged, and effective team

  • Provide direction, coaching, and mentoring to increase your team's capabilities

  • Implement ongoing quality improvement processes working with cross-functional teams

  • Maintain product consistency throughout product cycle, including the design, definition, and build phases through quality checkpoints and testing

  • Ensure delivery against established goals and objectives

  • Work cross-functionally within other teams and stakeholders; foster collaboration with other teams

Required education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science 

  • 3+ years of experience managing, guiding, and mentoring a team of engineers, preferably a globally distributed team

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering 

  • Experience in Unix Operating System 

  • Experience with or Understanding of working with agile teams

  • Ability to program and script using Python

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and work under pressure

  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and processes quickly
