We are seeking a seasoned System z IT Economics Advisor to support our strategic infrastructure planning and cost optimization initiatives. This role involves analyzing the economic impact of IBM Z (mainframe) environments, advising on cost models, and working with business and technical stakeholders to improve the total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI) for System z platforms.
- Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of System z infrastructure, including hardware, software licensing, capacity planning, and operational expenses.
- Partner with technical teams to understand workloads and usage patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support business case development for System z modernization, consolidation, or hybrid cloud integration.
- Provide insights on pricing trends, licensing models (e.g., Tailored Fit Pricing), and workload management.
- Collaborate with finance, procurement, and IT leaders to align mainframe investments with enterprise goals.
- Track and report on financial performance and efficiency KPIs related to System z.
- Stay updated on IBM System z economics, competitive alternatives, and industry best practices.
- Strong understanding of IT financial management practices, including cost modeling and budgeting.
- Proficient in Excel and financial analysis tools; experience with analytics platforms is a plus.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical information into business terms.
