The JBoss Sustaining Engineering Team is seeking a software engineer to help contribute to the development of several Java components that make up Red Hat's Runtime offerings, mainly but not limited to Red Hat’s JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. In this role, you will build solutions for customer requirements and bugs to improve the quality of the products. Communicating with support, core, quality and product engineers is essential in achieving this goal.
You will work in a collaborative, distributed environment, communication with support, core and product engineers is essential in achieving this goal. Your code will be reviewed by different senior engineers which gives you a great opportunity to learn a lot about the Java ecosystem and your code quality.

Your responsibilities will be to:
- Be responsible for developing and maintaining mainly JBoss EAP code, including:
- Backport already developed improvements and fixes
- Develop solutions to improve quality mainly of JBoss EAP and its components
- Maintain and write unit and integration tests where necessary
● Conduct analysis of root causes of problems
● Be effective working in a collaborative, distributed environment across different time zones
- Advanced Java programming experience, including understanding of Java memory model, SSL/TLS clustering and network concepts, and
- Experience with development of Java EE applications
- Advanced experience with Maven and Git, including developing Maven dependencies and child projects
- A positive attitude and desire to share ideas openly
- Proven ability to work autonomously
- Excellent communication skills at all levels across the business
- Experience with testing (Junit, TestNG) at least on unit-test level
- Practical experience with scripting (Bash, Python)
- Experience deploying Java EE applications in Kubernetes
