In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
- Lead the development of the cutover strategy: Define the cutover approach, including detailed planning of activities, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to align the cutover plan with the overall project timeline and scope.
- Define roles and responsibilities for all teams involved in the cutover (e.g., technical, business, and operations).
- Conduct risk assessments for potential cutover issues and create mitigation plans.
- Oversee the execution of cutover activities: This includes data migration, system validation, hardware and software setup, and user acceptance testing.
- Manage the transition from legacy systems: Ensure proper handover and decommissioning of legacy systems while ensuring continuity of business operations.
- Lead the Go/No-Go decision process: Manage the decision-making process for whether the cutover can proceed, ensuring that all prerequisites have been met.
- Coordinate with business users to ensure that all stakeholders are aligned and prepared for the cutover.
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness: Oversee data migration from legacy systems to SAP, ensuring that data integrity is maintained.
- Validate data during and after migration, ensuring it meets business requirements and is correctly mapped in the new SAP environment.
- Troubleshoot data migration issues, coordinating with technical teams to resolve any discrepancies or challenges that arise.
- Communicate cutover plans to stakeholders: Ensure that all stakeholders, including end users, IT teams, and project leadership, are informed about the cutover timeline, risks, and changes.
- Provide training and support: Oversee end-user training for new systems and processes related to the cutover.
- Ensure business continuity: Work with the business to minimize operational disruptions during the cutover process and establish fallback processes in case of issues.
- Ensure proper testing of the SAP environment before cutover: This includes integration testing, functional testing, performance testing, and stress testing.
- Manage end-user testing to ensure that the system meets business requirements and operational needs.
- Facilitate the final testing phase and ensure that identified issues are resolved before the Go-Live phase.
- Provide post-go-live support: Ensure that the business operations continue smoothly after the SAP system goes live, addressing any issues that arise.
- Monitor system performance during the post-cutover period to ensure that the system operates as expected.
- Ensure a smooth transition to the support team: Once the cutover is complete, hand over the system to the maintenance or support team with appropriate documentation.
- Document cutover processes: Maintain clear and detailed documentation for all cutover-related activities, risks, issues, and resolutions.
- Provide regular status updates to project leadership, stakeholders, and business units on cutover progress, risks, and completion.
- Review and improve cutover processes: After the project is complete, analyze the cutover process and identify areas for improvement to optimize future cutover activities.
- Provide lessons learned: Collect feedback and share insights to improve future SAP implementations.
- In-depth knowledge of SAP: Familiarity with SAP modules, architecture, and implementation processes.
- Understanding of system migration: Experience with data migration tools, cutover procedures, and technical processes.
- Project management tools: Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, etc.).
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting: Ability to quickly resolve issues that arise during cutover and mitigate risks.
- Leadership and team coordination: Ability to lead diverse teams and manage multiple stakeholders across business and technical domains.
- Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail: The ability to meticulously plan and execute complex activities with minimal error.

- SAP Implementation Experience: Several years of hands-on experience in SAP projects, particularly in the cutover phase.
- Project Management: Experience leading or managing large-scale IT projects, ideally SAP-related, with a focus on cutover management.
- Change Management: Experience in managing changes in business processes and technology.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate) and project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile) are preferred.
