Incumbent should lead a team of Safety professionals and support them to deliver desired results. Should be sensitive to global business environment and accommodating cultural, ethnic, language and geographical differences. Maintain awareness to regulatory and organization requirements, implement local & global health & safety management system and extend necessary support to key stakeholders.
- Lead a team of safety professionals across AP & Japan, extend managerial support and fulfill people manager responsibilities.
- Ensure financial and workforce targets are within the stipulated framework/guidelines.
- Effectively collaborate with AP & Japan BUs, HR, GRE & Security to resolve H&S issues and deliver operational results, including countries without internal safety resource.
- Work with respective AP countries / Japan to address compliance to local legal requirements and build on system to meet IBM standards.
- Act as the primary interface with the executive management, local authorities (when required) and third parties.
- Work with CMTs/Task force and provide expertise and support in implementation of site emergency response plans.
- Support acquisition and outsourcing deals with due-diligence, assessment of health & safety risks and mitigation plan.
- Advice business on H&S strategy based on evidence; and applying risk management principles.
- Monitor effectiveness of ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System and strive for continual improvement.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and internal requirements and maintain health & safety processes and records to achieve Regulatory compliance and IBM objective
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business unit strategies
- Bachelor/Post Bachelor’s degree in the field of Science/Engineering / Occupational Health & Safety
- 10+ years of experience preferably working in Information Technology or Service industry or electronic industry and/or working with large employee base
- Good understanding of AP & Japan H&S legislation.
- Emergency Response & Crisis Management Principles which includes but not limited to pandemic, first aid, fire safety, natural and manmade disasters.
- Ability to carry out health & safety risk evaluations, categorize and apply prevention and protection measures in compliance to regulatory and IBM requirements.
- Knowledge of performing building safety reviews/audits, accident/incident investigation and validate program effectiveness/compliance.
- Experience of working with senior management
- Project management techniques and disciplines.
- Food and water safety principles and knowledge of HACCP/ISO 22000 standards
- Safety concepts with home working, mobile working, client locations and events
- Knowledge of decision driving and transportation safety program
