Keycloak is the leading open source Identity and Access management platform, and part of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). It provides a broad range of capabilities to secure applications in a cloud-native environment, such as single sign-on (SSO), identity brokering and user federation.
The Keycloak Continuous Delivery team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive quality, performance, and efficiency through automation in our Keycloak-based identity and access management platform. In this role, you will lead efforts to automate integration and system-level tests, build and deployment processes, and investigate test failures to improve overall system robustness. You will work closely with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to enhance our automation strategy and ensure high standards for reliability and maintainability.
Advance IAM Automation and Platform Reliability: Design and implement automation frameworks and test suites to validate Keycloak’s authentication and authorization features.
Optimize CI/CD and Build Automation: Develop and maintain efficient, scalable build and release pipelines using tools like Maven, Jenkins, and Git. Automate build validation, regression detection, and deployment testing for Keycloak across various environments including containers and Kubernetes.
Investigate and Resolve Failures at Scale: Lead root cause analysis for test and system failures, propose systemic improvements, and implement long-term automation strategies to prevent recurrence. Provide diagnostic tooling and logging enhancements for reproducibility.
Promote Best Practices in Automation: Collaborate with engineers to integrate automation early in the development cycle. Define and document standards for automated testing, validation workflows, and quality gates.
Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify gaps in existing automation or test coverage, recommend improvements, and align quality practices with evolving product architecture and deployment models.
Collaborate Across Distributed Teams: Engage in agile practices including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and team retrospectives. Share knowledge, mentor team members, and contribute to the overall reliability of the Keycloak platform.
Minimum of 5 years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Java, and strong proficiency in one or both of Python or Bash.
Strong experience with test automation tools and frameworks in Java (JUnit or similar).
Hands-on experience with build and CI tools such as Maven, Git, and Jenkins (or similar CI systems).
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Ability to work in Linux environments, with intermediate or better system administration knowledge.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in debugging and performance tuning.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Direct experience with Keycloak, either through development, integration, or automation.
Knowledge of cloud application development and security principles.
Familiarity with middleware technologies, Jakarta EE, or enterprise integration patterns.
