In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive quality strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives and technology roadmap.
- Establish and maintain a strong quality engineering vision, ensuring it supports our commitment to delivering high-quality software products.
Team Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage a high-performing quality engineering team, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Delegate responsibilities, set clear expectations, and provide guidance, support, and resources to enable team success.
Quality Assurance and Improvement:
- Champion quality assurance throughout the organization, promoting a customer-centric approach to software development and testing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, process enhancements, and quality metrics within the quality engineering function.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Resource Allocation and Budgeting:
- Allocate and manage quality engineering resources effectively, balancing workload, skill sets, and project priorities.
- Develop and maintain an annual budget for the quality engineering function, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value for money.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with senior management, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.
- Present quality engineering performance, trends, and recommendations to executive leadership and board members.
- Facilitate regular communication, status updates, and risk discussions with stakeholders.
Risk Management and Mitigation:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate quality-related risks proactively, minimizing potential impacts on project objectives and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain risk management plans, including risk registers, risk mitigation strategies, and contingency plans.
Process and Tool Excellence:
- Promote the adoption and continuous improvement of quality engineering methodologies, tools, and best practices (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Six Sigma, or industry-specific standards).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance test automation frameworks, tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track and measure quality engineering performance using relevant metrics (e.g., defect density, test coverage, cycle time, etc.).
- Prepare and present regular quality engineering status reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
Industry Trends and Innovation:
- Stay updated with the latest quality engineering trends, tools, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, technology enhancements, and innovative quality approaches.
- Represent the quality engineering function in industry events, conferences, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 15-18 years of experience in quality engineering, with a proven track record of leadership and strategic thinking.
- Strong experience in managing and growing quality engineering teams within an enterprise environment.
- Thorough understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), quality assurance processes, and industry standards.
- In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Expertise in functional, non-functional, integration, performance, security, and other relevant testing types.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, or custom frameworks).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bamboo).
