Your role and responsibilities

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and technically deep Senior Enterprise Architect to lead the end-to-end design, build, implementation, and ongoing technical guidance of IBM Systems across multiple client data centers. The scope includes but is not limited to architecture for IBM System ZPower Systems (AIX & IBM i), IBM Storage, and DataPower integrations. 

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical and practical expertise in hybrid infrastructure, high availability systems, data replication, and security, while serving as a cross-functional leader across infrastructure, application, and business teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture Leadership
    • Define and lead the architecture for multiple enterprise data centers leveraging IBM Z, Power (AIX/IBM i), and hybrid environments.
    • Establish a future-ready infrastructure blueprint that aligns with business continuity, scalability, and modernization goals.
  • Infrastructure Design & Delivery
    • Architect highly available and resilient systems using Db2 Mirror for IBM iPowerHA, and GDPS on System Z.
    • Design and oversee implementation of IBM Storage solutions (FlashSystem, DS8000, Spectrum Virtualize) across data centers.
    • Integrate DataPower Gateways to ensure secure, scalable connectivity across on-prem and hybrid workloads.
  • Program Execution
    • Partner with cross-functional teams (network, security, operations, development) within the client and IBM to drive execution of data center build and migration plans.
    • Own the end-to-end lifecycle: solution design, proof of concept, implementation oversight, testing, and go-live

 

  • Governance & Optimization

 

    • Set standards for systems design, performance, resiliency, and cost optimization.
    • Provide thought leadership in IT governance, risk management, and compliance within data center environments.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration
    • Guide solution architects, infrastructure engineers, and operations teams through design decisions and implementation trade-offs.
    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives and business leaders on technology infrastructure strategy.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise IT architecture and data center infrastructure.
  • Deep expertise in IBM System ZIBM Power Systems (AIX, IBM i), and IBM Storage, technologies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of IBM Storage architecture (Flash, SAN, Spectrum suite) and DataPower Gateway solutions.
  • Proven experience architecting high availabilitydisaster recovery, and multi-site active-active environments.
  • Strong understanding of mainframe modernizationmiddleware integration, and security protocols.
  • Ability to drive large-scale programs with matrixed teams and multiple vendors.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred technical and professional experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • IBM Certified Infrastructure Architect or similar certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Solution Architect – Power Systems or System Z).
  • Experience with cloud integration (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS hybrid deployments).
  • Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform, or infrastructure automation tools.
  • Background in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, government) is a plus.
