Your role and responsibilities

The Apptio Team is looking for a Junior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help us build the innovative Finops products (IBM Cloudability). The right candidate will be intermediate level engineer with backend (Java stack) and frontend, (React, micro-frontend). We're developing a scalable, performant, cloud-native FinOps solution running on AWS using a microservices architecture (backend and frontend). We own the entire lifecycle of the product, from requirements clarification, through design and implementation, to production deployment and support.

As part of the team,

  • You will be participating in development and delivery of important features in a SaaS environment to help our customers manage and optimize their cloud spend.
  • Your main duties will include designing and implementing new features, optimizing, and maintaining existing code, and ensuring the software meets high-quality standards through testing and debugging.
  • You will also work closely with other developers, designers, and product managers to ensure the software meets user needs and modern non-functional requirements.
  • You will also be asked to be on on-call shifts based on the rules and requirements of each business unit/team.

Please note, that we expect you to be at IBM Kraków office (Fabryczna 1a, 31-553 Kraków, TBD for next year) min. 2-3 times a week.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Java software engineer with 2+ years of experience. Java 17+ features, such as Records, Pattern matching, Sealed classes, VirtualThreads etc.
  • Any of frameworks similar to Springboot (Dropwizard, preferrable Quarkus)
  • Front-end: React, Typescript, micro-frontend (mui, ag-grid, playwright)
  • Experience on SpringBoot/Quarkus, AWS and React are highly desirable

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Optionally, basic knowledge on CI/CD (Github Actions, ArgoCD), Terraform
  • Familiarity with Docker/containerization technologies
  • Optoinally, familiatrity with monitoring&alerting tools (Datadog, Splunk)
  • Familiarity with cloud service provider (Azure, GCP, preferable AWS)
  • Knowledge of FinOps and SaaS products an added bonus!
  • Experience with SQL (Aurora PostgreSQL) and NoSQL database implementations
  • Familiarity working in a DevOps/DevSecOps model (you develop, you own)
