We are seeking a skilled back-end developer to join our IBM Software team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products, working with a variety of technologies and programming languages. You will be contributing to the open-source project Kruize Autotune and supporting Red Hat products, including Insights Cost Management and OpenShift.

Your role and responsibilities

As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a vital role in architecting exceptional software experiences and being able to represent the team at company events and conferences. Your responsibilities will encompass the design and implementation of innovative features, fine-tuning and sustaining existing code for delivering performance optimization solutions using AI for Kubernetes applications, including optimal performance, observability and guaranteeing top-notch quality through rigorous testing and debugging. 

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and you’ll be mentoring and guiding junior engineers, working with fellow developers, designers, and product managers to ensure our software aligns seamlessly with user expectations, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. 

You will also stay abreast of the latest advancements in systems engineering, performance optimization and AI, driving their adoption within the organization.

Required technical and professional expertise
  • Software Development Expertise: Experience developing object-oriented server-side applications. Strong background in Java, Python and Golang and fundamentals of application performance with overall 10 years or more of experience. Understanding of web programming, like REST and HTTP. Experience developing in a Linux environment. 
  • Cloud Technology Proficiency: Experience with cloud-based technologies, showcasing familiarity with modern cloud ecosystems and tools such as Containers and Kubernetes.
  • Relational Database Knowledge: Proficiency in relational databases, particularly experience with technologies like PostgreSQL and MySQL.
  • Self-Starter Mindset: A self-starter with a proactive mindset, able to initiate and drive projects independently.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving, with the ability to tackle complex issues and find effective solutions.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work seamlessly as part of a team, contributing to collective goals and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Previous experience with JEE and Hibernate.
  • Experience with open-source communities and development.
  • Prior experience developing AI solutions and familiarity with optimizing agentic AI workflows.
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines.
