Responsible for documenting incidents and problems per the IBM Cloud IaaS Network Services standards and practices. Serves as a technical expert in troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution of networking issues which include switches and routers belonging to Cisco, Arista Juniper etc. Should be conversant with various networking protocols/technologies and should have hands-on experience with various network support tools. The engineer should be able to make decisions based on risk, best practice and business need and clearly articulate the decision points and should have excellent written (including documentation) and verbal (communication) skills. Has knowledge in handling DataCenter environment and well versed in automation (preferably Python) to reduce toil.
- Should be willing to work in the shift environment and maintain adherence to shift timings (this is for US-Shift - 09:00 pm < > 05:30 am)
- Well versed in DataCenter technologies and functioning (EVPN, RSVP, Spine and Leaf, L3VPN)
- Should be proficient and hands-on in networking concepts – both Layer-2 (Port-channel, switching concepts) and Layer-3 (BGP, MPLS, VRF)
- Python coding with the ability to write code to grep required outputs targeted towards simplifying our toil
- Active monitoring of the Alert Dashboard
- Understanding VPC and overlay terminologies
- Should have good skills in troubleshooting, problem identification and resolution of networking issues
- Should have solid experience creating technical documentation for current and future state network support needs
- Ability to make decisions based on risk, best practice and business need and clearly articulate the decision points
- Ability to timeline incidents accurately and collaborate with external teams, vendors and prov
- An urge to take ownership of issues and drive the best-known solution into the discussions for the long-term goals of said projects with an eye for constant improvement
- 6+ years of working on large scale service provider networks
- 4+ years routing and switching experience
- Very good English verbal and written communication and soft skills
- May have worked in a multi-vendor environment with experience in Cisco, Juniper, Arista vendors.
- Familiarity with the ITIL process.
- Valid Networking Certification – Any vendor
