In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
- Design, develop, and maintain z/OS applications using COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and other developers to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in the analysis, design, and implementation of new features and enhancements.
- Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of applications.
- Contribute to the modernization of legacy applications, leveraging contemporary technologies and methodologies.
- Document technical specifications, code, and design decisions.
- Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in z/OS application development.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of professional experience in z/OS application development.
- Extensive knowledge of z/OS operating system, JCL, DB2, and IMS.
- Proficiency in COBOL, PL/I, and assembly language programming.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., SCM, Git).
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, UCD) and practices.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer - z/OS) are a plus.
