The IBM Tape Storage Hardware Development team is seeking a dependable, highly organized and detail-oriented Band 5 Technician to support ongoing hardware development efforts. This role is responsible for managing procurement operations, coordinating hardware logistics, and supporting tape library maintenance and testing activities

- Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) for hardware components and prototypes
- Partner closely with engineers to follow up with suppliers and ensure timely delivery of parts
- Track and log all inbound and outbound hardware, including serialized assets, to support development schedules
- Coordinate international and domestic shipments to/from IBM labs and development partners
- Support and maintain IBM Tape Libraries used for development, bring-up, and testing
- Assist with setup and troubleshooting of tape subsystems and test configurations
- Demonstrated experience in a technician or operations role supporting hardware development or labs.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, PO management, and supplier communication.
- Comfortable with ordering, tracking, and asset management.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to track serialized components and manage hardware assets.
- Effective communicator; able to collaborate across engineering, supply chain, and support teams.
- Hands-on experience with basic hardware repair, setup, or troubleshooting.
- Prior experience with tape storage products or hardware.
- Understanding of prototype build cycles and test lab schedules and hardware reliability testing
