IBM is hiring for a cloud development manager position supporting the IBM Cloud Databases (ICD) service. ICD is a PaaS solution providing PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, etcd, MongoDB, MySQL, Datastax, EnterpriseDB, and RabbitMQ in IBM data centers around the globe.
You will provide day-to-day project and people leadership to our platform and user interface squads. Each squad has a global team of software developers implementing new features, developing automation to streamline ongoing operational tasks, and participating in operational rotations to respond to system-alerts and customer support tickets. You will be responsible for how the squad works day-to-day and its deliverables, including planning of squad activities, reporting status, and breaking down obstacles. You will participate in squad meetings (planning, scrums, reflections). As a member of the management team, you will also join an operations management rotation (daytime only, including weekends) where you will be the primary escalation point for daytime operators to work through and manage high urgency operational issues or client impacting events.
Candidates should have a strong desire to work within an agile environment, have a passion for embracing new cloud technologies, and working with our customers to ensure they are successful. You need to be collaborative, able to handle responsibility, and love learning new techniques and tools.
· Experience with agile project management methodologies or similar
· Experience with cloud development lifecycle
· Experience with leading cross-functional software development teams as a team lead or manager
· Track record in leading teams to breakdown, size, and track complex requirements into a software delivery plan that may span multiple squads
· A solid engineering underpinning to understand and learn the architecture of the cloud service
· Exposure to technologies such as Kubernetes, Infrastructure, Databases
· Great communication and negotiation skills where they can coach and support team members to work through technical obstacles
· Ability to self-prioritize squad work based on organizational missions, customer impact, and squad feedback
· Ability to self-prioritize issues based on customer impact
· Understanding of requirements for cloud, security, compliance, high availability, and resiliency.
