In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

Your role and responsibilities

The Technical Team Manager will lead our data engineering team in acquiring public healthcare data domain and developing technical competencies in areas of data management such as designing data interfaces, ETL (Informatica), Data Modeling, Database (Oracle, MS-SQL, ProgreSQL, DataBricks) to deliver project or change request implementation and manage operations in our data platforms to be secured, compliant and resilient.
 

Project Leadership

  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of data engineering and operations engineering projects, ensuring timely delivery, resource optimization, and alignment with evolving business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of data, operations, and application engineers, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance work environment.
  • Collaborate closely with client data and analytics (DNA) reporting officers, acting as the central point of contact for all offshore delivery center DNA staff-related matters, ensuring smooth communication and coordination across teams.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to align technical solutions with business needs and enhance overall project impact.


Technical Expertise:

  • Provide expert guidance on data warehouse solutions, advanced analytics, data modeling, and the implementation of Databricks Lakehouse.
  • Architect and implement scalable and resilient data pipelines, ensuring efficient data ingestion, processing, and storage in a cloud environment.


Champion of Best Practices

  • Establish, enforce, and continuously refine standards and best practices for both operations engineering and data engineering, covering development, testing, deployment, and maintenance phases.
  • Lead initiatives to evaluate current processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements that boost efficiency, quality, and scalability.


Communication Skills:

  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, effectively presenting complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner to diverse audiences, including technical architects, directors, business users, and data owners.
  • Deliver engaging and insightful presentations that facilitate understanding, buy-in, and collaboration across organizational levels.
  • Translate intricate data insights and technical details into actionable information, fostering a culture of transparency and informed decision-making throughout the organization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Engineering, Information Technology/ System or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Datawarehousing/Business Intelligence/Analytics projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large-scale data analytics projects.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Data Engineer, with a strong track record of managing projects and leading teams.
  • Proven experience with AWS cloud services such as setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, and deep expertise in Databricks Lakehouse and AI/ML technologies will be added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in data warehousing, data analytics, lakehouse architecture, and AWS technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms, including architecture design, data integration, and the implementation of scalable data pipelines.
  • Proficiency and relevant experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Databases (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Teradata, Databricks), data repositories (e.g., data lakes, data marts).
  • Informatica IDMC experience
  • Data visualisation tools such as Tableau, OBIEE/OAS
  • Working knowledge on BI standard languages such as R, Python, SQL, Apache Spark
  • Cloud-native technologies and services, including microservices, serverless computing, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) will be added advantages


Certifications

  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Architect certification or AWS Certified Data Engineer or higher
  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or IDMC Professional certification is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is highly desirable.


Leadership and Management Skills:

  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing high-performing teams and complex projects.
  • Excellent program and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
