Responsible for engineering and administering the mid-tier environment at PD ALTESS, including architecting infrastructure, installing, configuring, and hardening application and web servers, portals, and associated software in Windows and Linux environments. This role ensures secure, optimized, and highly available systems while supporting development, testing, and production environments. A key focus is automation, security compliance, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, install, configure, and harden application and web servers, portals, and related software products in Windows and Linux environments.
- Maintain infrastructure to meet availability and performance standards across Dev, Test, and Prod environments.
- Support middleware technologies such as Tomcat, Apache, IIS, ColdFusion, or JBOSS; assist with project releases and troubleshooting outages.
- Develop automation scripts for maintenance tasks using Ansible and PowerShell.
- Work ServiceNow tasks for installing, configuring, patching, or troubleshooting servers; document progress and resolutions in ServiceNow.
- Conduct periodic reviews of Army Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and ensure compliance with ALTESS and ARMY security requirements.
- Document common knowledge and best practices into a Knowledge Management System for team use.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies to support evolving business requirements.
- Knowledge and 1–2 years of experience managing application servers (IIS, Apache, Tomcat, JBOSS, ColdFusion) in large enterprise environments.
- Experience automating maintenance tasks using Ansible and scripting with PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of Windows and Linux administration, web application server environments, and network architectures (firewall/port troubleshooting).
- Familiarity with SSL/PKI implementation and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills for professional interaction with external customers.
- Must live within 50 miles of Radford, VA as this job requires in person work at least 3 days per week
- Must hold and maintain an Active DoD Secret clearance
Certifications: CompTIA Security+
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a global team.
- Technical knowledge of Web Services (SOAP/REST), XML, and related technologies (DTD, XSLT, Xerces, Xalan); familiarity with Cyber Command STIG processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
