Introduction

Work in an agile, collaborative environment across products and product management teams, driving the release lifecycle of an assigned set of products under the IBM Z umbrella. Execute the product-related tasks such as plans, timelines, requirements, etc. between different teams. Coordinate the release schedule and resources required depending upon applications, defect backlogs, planned releases, and infrastructure updates. Works with the existing Release Management team to support the overall release-management infrastructure to strategic Project Management Tool - Jira and Offering Management (OM) deliverables and drive the release management cycle of a set of products.

Your role and responsibilities

Main responsibilities including but not limited to:

 

Jira Cloud Administration:

  • Configure and manage Jira Cloud projects, optimizing workflows, screens, fields, and permissions to meet team needs

  • Oversee user management, handling permissions, access controls, and project roles

  • Implement Jira project best practices to boost team productivity and streamline workflows

 

Script Runner for Jira:

  • Write and maintain Python scripts for task automation and to expand Jira’s capabilities using Script Runner

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot Script Runner script issues, ensuring seamless automation and efficient resolution

 

Cross-Platform Automation:

  • Connect Jira Cloud with other platforms, facilitating data integration and smooth automation across systems

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities for repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency

 

System Maintenance and Support:

  • Monitor Jira Cloud performance and address user support requests related to system functionality

  • Assist in updating Jira Cloud, upgrading plugins, and making system enhancements for optimal performance

 

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and craft automation solutions that align with business goals

  • Document configurations, workflows, scripts, and best practices for future reference and training

  • Mentor and train team members on new automation tools and processes to encourage best practices

Required technical and professional expertise

  • 2-4 years of experience as a Jira Cloud Developer/Administrator, skilled in project configurations, workflows, and customization.

  • Dedicated developer with strong programming skills (Python or other scripting language) and experience creating custom automation in Jira. Familiarity with regular expressions is ideal.

  • Strong Jira skills, including ability to create complex searches retrieving related issues across multiple projects utilizing Advanced JQL and familiarity with the Script Runner add-on.

  • Experience integrating Jira with other tools an services (e.g., AHA, Git, Slack, Smart Checklist, etc)

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex issues effectively.

  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach, Collaborative and Teaming skills.

  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience with Release Management and/or Project Management.

  • Highly self-motivated and resourceful

  • Aptitude to learn and apply knowledge quickly and flexible to work with global team across various geo and time zones.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Expertise in Release Management, Project Management and/or Product Management

  • Experience in Secure Engineering , Security Privacy by Design requirements and compliance

  • Knowledge of integrating Jira with third-party applications for added functionality.

  • Familiarity with additional business automation tools and platforms.

  • Atlassian or Microsoft Power Platform certifications (a nice-to-have, but not required).

  • Experience automating in Jira or release management tools.

  • Knowledge of AI, z/OS, New Product introduction, Manage Dependencies

  • Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks and adapting Jira to support these methodologies.

  • Export and other IBM Offering Deliverables, Continuous delivery lifecycle management
