As an IBM Z System Programmer, you will be responsible for assisting with the underlying system programming support of the environment where IBM Z applications are developed and/or deployed. You will assist with the configuration, operation and planning of the base operating system (z/OS, z/VM, and understanding of Linux), middleware (CICS, IMS, DB2, MQ), and software products, including the integrating and testing of software solutions.
Your primary responsibilities:
- Installing and supporting the upgrade of customers base operating system and software products including testing of applications.
- Supporting the recommendations made to the customers regarding potential impacts.
- Working with team members to schedule and implement installs and maintenance around the needs of business and assisting with problem determination and resolution.
- Assisting the Technical Lead with soliciting, analyzing, and understanding customers’ business requirements and implementing assigned tasks on a timely basis.
- Creating personal development plan and maintaining acquired level of knowledge across key skills and technologies used in the hardware or software environments assigned.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems programming
- Demonstrated experience in software installations
- Demonstrated communication skills in a customer facing environment
- Fluent in verbal and written communication in English
- 4+ years of working experiences with z/OS or other operating systems on z
- Master’s degree in computer science
